East Bridgewater Students Graduate From Citizen Police Academy
EAST BRIDGEWATER – Chief Scott Allen and the East Bridgewater Police Department are pleased to announce the graduation of the second annual Citizens Police Academy for students on Thursday, Nov. 10.
The academy, open to all junior high and high school students, ran for six weeks with classes held every Thursday evening at the town hall. Participants learned about what officers and dispatchers do on a day-to-day basis, from use of force to drug intervention, with interactive activities.
“I’m grateful to the officers who took the extra time and effort to execute this program,” Chief Allen said. “The citizen academies serve as a great way to keep our residents – young and old – educated, which creates a safer community overall.”
Sgt. Steven Brown, Officer Mark Harvey and Officer Tallitha Connor ran the program with the assistance several officers from the East Bridgewater and surrounding-area police departments.
East Bridgewater Police also offer a Citizens Police Academy to the general public. The next Citizens Police Academy will be held in the spring.
