EAST BRIDGEWATER – Chief Scott Allen announces that the East Bridgewater Police Department is participating in the Massachusetts Coffee with a Cop day. Governor Charlie Baker has proclaimed October 4th, 2017 as Massachusetts Coffee with a Cop day.
On Wednesday, Oct. 4, East Bridgewater Police will host Coffee with a Cop at Mary Lou’s, 117 North Bedford Street; from 9-11am and at Cumberland Farms, 143 Bedford Street; from 1-3pm. As a Coffee with a Cop sponsor, Mary Lou’s and Cumberland Farms will offer free cups of coffee to community members attending the event.
“Both these events will give residents a chance to connect with East Bridgewater’s public safety officers through fun, hands-on activities,” Chief Allen said. “We encourage everyone throughout the community to come meet our officers and learn a few extra public safety tips.”
About Coffee with a Cop:
Coffee With a Cop began in Hawthorne, Calif. in 2011 as a result of police officers brainstorming ways to better interact with their community. They developed a simple plan to break down the barriers that have been built between police officers and citizens — have a cup of coffee, discuss what’s on your mind, ask questions and make suggestions that could better the community.
Since its creation, Coffee With a Cop events have been held in more than 2,000 communities in 49 states. It is regarded as one of the most successful community oriented policing programs in the United States.
