East Bridgewater Police Conduct Alcohol Compliance Checks, All Businesses Pass
EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Scott Allen is pleased to report that the East Bridgewater Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks at local businesses throughout town and all establishments passed.
On Sept. 22, the East Bridgewater Detective Division, working with an underage civilian volunteer, conducted the checks at 15 businesses including liquor stores, convenience stores and restaurants/bars.
During the compliance checks, the underage volunteer entered the establishment and attempted to purchase alcohol without an I.D. If asked for an I.D., the volunteer would state he did not have one and leave the business.
All businesses passed the compliance checks, asking the volunteer for an I.D. and denying him when he was unable to present one.
“We’re extremely pleased that all businesses know and follow the law and did the right thing when an underage person came in looking to be served,” Chief Allen said. “We will continue to regularly monitor businesses to ensure that they remain in compliance with state rules and regulations.”
