During the past month, Detectives assigned to the WEB Task force have been investigating claims that a male party was selling Crack Cocaine and other narcotics in and around Whitman as well as the surrounding communities. Throughout the course of this investigation Detectives developed probable cause that one such individual later identified as Rashuan Scott was arranging sales from the confines of his apartment #96 Pleasant Street in Whitman as well has his vehicle to make narcotics deliveries and sales. Upon developing probable cause that Mr. Scott was believed to be involved in narcotics distribution, Detectives applied for and were granted two search warrants, one for the residence and a second search warrant for Mr. Scott’s vehicle.
In the early hours of October 7, 2017, WEB Task Force Detectives with the Assistance of SEMLEC SWAT Officers, mobilized to execute the two search warrants. While SWAT Officers were travelling to the search warrant location, Mr. Scott and a female associate, (Kaitlyn Costa, 26 years old, of 5500 North Main Street Fall River) we seen leaving the home by Detectives conducting surveillance in a Black Acura which WEB Detectives had a search warrant for as well. Detectives attempted to pull over Mr. Scott however he continued along failing to stop for the Detectives. Mr. Scott finally pulled over to the side of the road and as Detectives approached his vehicle, he again pulled away, striking one officer and hitting an unmarked Police Cruiser before coming to rest. Mr. Scott and Ms. Costa were both removed from the vehicle. While one team of officers was dealing with Mr. Scott and his vehicle, a second team of WEB Detectives with SEMLEC Swat officers executed the search warrant on Mr. Scott’s residence. Detectives recovered both narcotics as well as packaging materials associated with drug distribution during their searches.
At the conclusion of both search warrants Mr. Scott was placed under arrest and transported back to the Whitman Police Department to be booked and processed where he is being held on $4,540 cash bail. Ms. Costa will be facing charges in Brockton District court at a later date. The detective struck by Mr. Scott sought medical attention and was released with minor injuries and is expected to have a full and immediate recovery.
The WEB task force is a collaborative effort of the five agencies to proactively investigate narcotics crimes and other major crimes that plague our communities
