East Bridgewater Police Department Swears In Its First Deputy Chief
EAST BRIDGEWATER – Chief Scott Allen is pleased to announce that Paul O’Brien was sworn in as the East Bridgewater Police Department’s first deputy chief in a ceremony last night.
The position is new to the department and was created last year, providing a much-needed second-in-command role for the East Bridgewater Police.
The ceremony occurred at the East Bridgewater Town Hall, where Deputy Chief O’Brien took his oath and was sworn in by Town Clerk Dina Livingston.
Deputy Chief O’Brien was first hired by the department full-time in 1997. In 2004, he was promoted to detective and then achieved the rank of sergeant in 2010.
The 55-year-old East Bridgewater resident grew up in Brockton. He is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He earned his master’s degree in criminal justice from Western New England College.
He was officially promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief on Sunday, Jan. 14.
Deputy Chief O’Brien is a member of the WEB Major Crimes Task Force and has served as an arson investigator, public records officer and evidence officer. He’s also a graduate of the Drug Enforcement Administration School and is certified in accident reconstruction.
“Deputy Chief O’Brien is an incredible asset to the department and I’m thrilled to be working alongside him in his new role,” Chief Allen said. “His dedication to his job and commitment to serving the people of East Bridgewater makes him the perfect fit as our first deputy chief.”
