The East Bridgewater Police Department will be performing Alcohol Compliance Checks of all Liquor Licensee’s in East Bridgewater over the next several months. These compliance checks are performed by officers partnering with criminal justice college students under 21 years of age. The officers and students are trained in accordance with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission (ABCC) licensee compliance check standards.
Over the next several months, the license compliance check teams will visit each of the Liquor Licensee’s in town. This includes on-site sales such as restaurants and bars as well as off-site sales such as package and convenience stores.
The licensee passes the test by simply asking the underage student for their Driver’s License, which is in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws. If they serve the underage compliance team member without asking for Driver’s License, the licensee fails the compliance check.
The East Bridgewater Police Department takes its responsibilities seriously, to ensure that liquor establishments are adhering to state laws and regulations of the ABCC. In addition, the department continues to work diligently to keep our roadways safe and to encourage responsible behavior in our young adults. This is one method of assisting our youth by performing these checks. Compliance checks with be run randomly throughout the year.
