East Bridgewater Police Investigating Hit and Run Involving Juveniles, Horses

November 14, 2019 by Leah Comins

Two Juveniles and Two Horses Uninjured

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Scott Allen reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department responded to a hit and run incident involving juveniles riding horses this evening.

At approximately 5:07 p.m., East Bridgewater Police responded to a call for an incident involving a motor vehicle and a horse and rider at 341 Belmont St.

The initial on-scene investigation found that two juveniles were riding two horses on Belmont Street when one horse and its rider were side-swiped by a vehicle, believed to be a light-colored 2009-2012 Ford Escape or Mercury Mariner. The passenger side mirror struck the right front shoulder of the horse and the rider’s leg. The driver allegedly stopped and looked at the damage to their vehicle before driving away.

There were no injuries to the horses or riders as a result of the incident.

East Bridgewater Police are currently looking for the vehicle, which has a damaged passenger side mirror, and its driver.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information on the suspect vehicle or driver is encouraged to call the department at 508-378-7223.
