EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Paul O’Brien is pleased to announce that the East Bridgewater Police Department will once again be taking part in the Home Base No Shave fundraiser next month.
The campaign allows officers to donate or raise $100 to forego departmental facial hair restrictions during the month of November as a way to support Home Base’s mission to help veterans and their families heal from ailments such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.
“Our department is proud and honored to be participating in this fundraiser again this year,” Chief O’Brien said. “Last year we were able to exceed our goal by raising a total of $1,850 and we look forward to raising as much money as we can this November. Home Base No Shave is a great fundraiser that honors our heroes and we encourage everyone in our department and those in our community who feel inclined to donate to this campaign.”
As of Wednesday, Oct. 28, the department has already raised close to a quarter of their $2,000 goal, and people can donate by visiting the East Bridgewater Police page on the Home Base website.
As part of Home Base No Shave, which was formerly known as No Shave November, more than 130 New England Departments raised over $320,000 last year. Since its inception in 2015, the campaign has raised over $780,000 to fund critical mental health and brain injury care for our nation’s wounded and injured service members and their families.
