EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department has identified the driver involved in a weekend hit-and-run crash involving a juvenile riding a bicycle.
A 62-YEAR-OLD WOMAN from FLORIDA will be summonsed by Brockton District Court on the following charges:
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury
The driver has relatives in the area.
On Sunday, Oct. 15, at 5:32 p.m., East Bridgewater Police received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle in the area of 143 Bedford St.
An initial on-scene investigation indicated that the juvenile victim, an 11-year-old girl, was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle through a small path that leads from Route 18 to the rear parking lot of Central Elementary School.
The juvenile was evaluated on scene by East Bridgewater Fire paramedics. The juvenile’s mother responded to the scene and declined medical transportation on behalf of her daughter.

Chief Jenkins thanked East Bridgewater area residents who offered tips after seeing video of the incident on mainstream and social media.
“Without the information provided by the public, we would have had a much harder time reaching a resolution,” Chief Jenkins said.
