The East Bridgewater Police Department is certified by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC). Achieving Certification is a rigorous process that involves an independent review by MPAC to ensure the department meets MPAC’s high standards in law enforcement.
East Bridgewater Police received Certification in October 2024, which is valid through 2027.
To attain Certification, the department must comply with 178 mandatory standards covering critical aspects of policing, including jurisdiction and mutual aid, evidence collection, communications, community involvement, and training.
The Certification process serves as a valuable tool for accountability among personnel and ensures that policies and procedures are applied consistently. It establishes a statewide benchmark for law enforcement agencies, allowing departments to measure their performance, address areas for improvement before issues arise, and maintain an independent evaluation of operations. Certification enhances the department’s reputation, increases public confidence, and reduces insurance costs and liability.
