East Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments Make Donation to Sachem Center for Health and Rehabilitation

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Paul O’Brien and Fire Chief Timothy Harhen are pleased to report their departments’ made a donation in support of a local rehabilitation facility this week.

On Wednesday, June 3, Chief O’Brien and Chief Harhen donated gift certificates that the departments received to the Sachem Center for Health and Rehabilitation, in order to show their appreciation for the hard work the Sachem Center staff has done throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gift certificates were originally donated to the police and fire departments by the Sydney Craven Memorial Fund as a token of their appreciation.

“Chief O’Brien and I thought it would be best to pass the gift certificates along to the nursing staff, as both departments have received numerous donations over the last few months,” Chief Harhen said.

Sydney Craven passed away on March 19, 2015, just nine days shy of her second birthday. The Craven family established the Sydney Craven Memorial Fund and host an annual 5K Tutu Run followed by a SparkleFest and family fun day on the East Bridgewater Common each June as a way to remember Sydney and raise money.

“We appreciate the donation by the Sydney Craven Memorial Fund and are excited to be able to distribute the gift certificates to such a worthy recipient,” Chief O’Brien said. “Nursing and rehabilitation centers have been doing tremendous work during the pandemic, and it means a lot to be able to recognize them.”
