EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department arrested a man on child pornography charges Thursday.

JASON GILES, 21, of EAST BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Disseminating Obscene Matter to a Minor
  • Enticing a Child Under 16
  • Posing/Exhibiting a Child in a Sexual Act

GILES is expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, East Bridgewater Police received a call from a woman in Indiana who identified herself as an employee of an organization called Bikers Against Predators. Other members of that organization were simultaneously at a house on Central Street in East Bridgewater, speaking to a man whom they alleged to be having inappropriate contact with minors online.

Officers and detectives arrived at the home and spoke to a member of the group, who identified the suspect as GILES.

The preliminary investigation revealed that another third-party group that was proactively engaged in online undercover chats posing as minors to expose child predators had made contact with GILES on Facebook Messenger. GILES was under the impression that he was speaking with a juvenile girl. The third-party group then contacted Bikers Against Predators, who then learned GILES’S identity and located him in East Bridgewater.

According to their website, Bikers Against Predators is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “expose online predators to help spread awareness and education to as many citizens as possible while having these predators face justice for their crimes.”

During their investigation, GILES was allegedly found to be in possession of child pornography videos and had sold videos online. Police seized his phone as evidence.

On Thursday, Oct. 10, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for GILES. He was arrested at his house without incident.

GILES was booked at the East Bridgewater Police Department and held on $500,000 bail pending his arraignment.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
