East Bridgewater Police Investigating After House Struck by Shotgun Slug

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department is investigating after a shotgun slug hit and entered a home over the weekend.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, at about 3:11 p.m., East Bridgewater Police responded to a home on Summer Street for a report of a gunshot striking a house.

Officers responded and learned that a single 12-gauge shotgun slug passed through a glass window and hit an inside hallway wall, leaving a dent.

The house is located in a wooded area near where hunting is allowed, but Massachusetts law prohibits the possession of a loaded firearm, discharge of a firearm or hunting on the land of another within 500 feet of any dwelling or building in use.

Police do not believe there is any general threat to the public.

The East Bridgewater Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone who believes they may have information relevant to the investigation is asked to call 508-378-1641 and ask for Detective Sgt. Ryan Cramer.

The incident remains under investigation.
