Today, August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day. At 6:30 tonight on the East Bridgewater Town Common, join members of EB HOPE, East Bridgewater Police, members of ours and surrounding communities in supporting families of those who have passed away as a result of overdose, as well as to honor those lost to overdose. This program is open to anyone, regardless of what community you reside in.
Beginning at 6:30 pm, anyone that wants can take a purple flag and with a marker and make a special written dedication to a loved one lost to overdose. Flags and markers will be available at the town common to go alongside the 1400 flags already placed on the common on Monday afternoon. These flags recognize the approximate 1,500 lives lost to overdose in 2015 in Massachusetts and will remain on the common through September 7th. Purple is the color recognized nationally for Overdose Prevention.
EB HOPE Executive Board Member as well as local Pastor Don Olson of the EB Community Covenant Church will lead the group in a brief service after all flags have been placed on the common.
If you are seeking help with a substance use disorder or know someone that needs help, the EB HOPE Drop-In Center is open tomorrow night, #400 Pleasant Street, East Bridgewater at the EB Community Covenant Church. More information can be found at EB HOPE Drop In Center
