East Bridgewater Police Officer Promoted to Sergeant
EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Scott Allen is pleased to announce that East Bridgewater Police Officer John Grillo was promoted to the rank of sergeant earlier this week.
Sergeant Grillo will be assigned to the midnight to 8 a.m. shift as a patrol supervisor. He was promoted and sworn in at a ceremony at Town Hall on Monday, April 2.
“Sergeant Grillo has served as a key member of our department for more than 20 years and has held many important roles here,” Chief Allen said. “In this new role, I am confident he will excel as an asset to the East Bridgewater Police and to the community as a whole.”
Sergeant Grillo has been a full-time officer in East Bridgewater since 1997. Prior to working with the department, he worked with the Hanover Police Department for 11 years.
He was promoted to detective in 2006, where he was instrumental in managing and leading investigations. He specialized in sexual assault and child abuse investigations, firearms licensing, evidence and property room management, sex offender registry and business licensing.
Sergeant Grillo has also served as the department’s school resource officer and court prosecution officer. He led a child safety seat installation program for many years and coordinated the department’s liquor license compliance program.
He has completed nearly 30 training programs and certifications that include topics such as human trafficking, opioid addiction, community policing, incident command and railroad safety.
