Police Chief Paul O’Brien and Fire Chief Timothy Harhen report that the East Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle this evening.
Just after 4:45 p.m., both departments responded to the area of 457 Central St. for a report that a pedestrian was struck. Upon arrival, officers determined that the male victim, a 68-year-old East Bridgewater resident, was struck by a 2007 Toyota Highlander driven by a 73-year-old Bridgewater man.
The victim was transported to a Boston hospital by ambulance for injuries that are considered serious but not life threatening.
The driver was also transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The road remains closed until further notice while crews repair a telephone pole that was broken as a result of the crash.
The accident is under investigation by East Bridgewater Police Sgt. Michael McLaughlin.
