South Weymouth, Mass., (January 13, 2017) –South Shore Health System, through its Community Benefits Program, has granted $5,000 to EB HOPE (East Bridgewater Help Outreach Prevention Education) to help the organization expand its offerings of addiction recovery programs, counseling through its Recovery Angels program and Narcan administration training efforts.

EB HOPE’s administrators, as well as board members and those who work within the initiative, recently visited South Shore Hospital to meet with Health System leadership. Jason Tracy, MD, chief of emergency medicine said he sees the difference EB HOPE is making in the community. “The impact is palpable,” said Dr. Tracy. “Everybody is engaged and the response has been phenomenal. We are excited to be part of this.”

In addition to the assistance through the Community Benefits Program, South Shore Hospital’s EMS training staff has twice brought the Mobile Sim Lab, generously donated by Best Chevrolet, to EB HOPE’s Drop-In Center at the East Bridgewater Community Covenant Church to conduct Narcan training. More than 70 civilians have been trained to administer Narcan to those suffering from an opioid overdose through that collaboration.

South Shore Health System’s Community Benefits Program establishes a framework for our charity to fulfill our organizational mission through programs and activities which address the health and wellness needs of the people in our region.
